Why waste your time tubing on the river, camping, or swimming in the lake when you could be directing a One Act play at the Capitol Theatre?

Portal Players would like to present a group of One Act plays this summer. The likely opening date is July 19th., and the plays will run for either 2 or 3 weeks - depending on the number of plays being performed.

One Act plays are not usually a money maker for us so we need to keep costs down; plays with no royalties (such as those in the public domain) would be preferred. Other costs - costumes, sets, props etc will have to be kept to a minimum.

If you have not directed before, this is an ideal way to start your directing career. Assistance will be given to new directors.

Directors will be reponsible for casting their shows and for recruiting any help they need - stage manager, techies, crew, etc.

We hope that one of these plays will go on to compete in the Qualicum One Act festival in early November.

Interested directors should submit their applications (and any questions) to the producer - Derek Burke - no later than February 29th.
